Spring Cloche
|
Gauge: 4 sts / 6 rows = 1” keyplate 3 or bulky tension 4.
Materials: 135 yards wosted weight yarn. (Sample knit with Lily Sugar and
Cream cotton).

1.
With waste yarn, open cast on 85 sts. Knit a few rows. Change to main
yarn, Set row counter at zeros.
2.
Knit 12 rows. Convert last row to knit stitches with latch hook or
crochet hook.
3.
Knit 10 rows. Pick up first row of main yarn and place on corresponding
needles using transfer tool (Brim made). Set row counter to zeros.
4.
Knit to row counter 20. Convert last row to knit stitches with latch hook
or crochet hook.

5.
Counting from one end, transfer every 11th stitch to 12th
needle. (1 stitch should be left at end) Move all stitches so there are not
spaces between stitches. Knit 2 rows.
6.
Counting from same side as before, transfer every 10th stitch to 11th
needle. (1 stitch should be left at end) Move all stitches so there are not
spaces between stitches. Knit 2 rows.
7.
Continue decreasing as above, counting 1 less stitch each time until 8
stitches remain.
8. Cut
yarn leaving a tail for sewing and thread through live stitches on machine.
Remove from machine.
9. Pull
stitches tightly to gather. Sew back seam to brim. Do not sew brim together.
10. To
shape hat, pull on main part of hat lengthwise and brim, widthwise.
